Call Sheets

AI review before you send

Run an automatic check for missing information, timing mistakes, and crew gaps before you send a call sheet.

Updated 2026-07-10

Before you send a call sheet, FirstSlate can review it for you: a set of instant checks plus an AI pass that compares the sheet against your project's brief. It catches things like a missing call time, call times out of order, or a department the shoot clearly needs with nobody assigned.

Where to find it

Open a call sheet from Dashboard → Callsheets, then click Review (the button with the sparkle icon, next to Send Sheet) at the top of the builder.

What it checks

The review has two parts, run together every time you click Review:

  • Instant checks, which run immediately and catch structural problems: no shoot date, no general call time, no location, no crew added, a general call time listed after the shooting call time, an estimated wrap that isn't after the shooting call, crew members missing an email or a role, and a shoot date on the sheet that doesn't match the project's shoot date.
  • An AI pass, which reads the call sheet alongside your project's brief and looks for crew coverage gaps (a department the brief clearly calls for with nobody assigned), contradictions with the brief (wrong location or date), and other genuinely missing critical fields. It's intentionally narrow: it does not weigh in on audio setup, camera or gear choices, deliverables, or how you've written your departmental notes, since those are your call to make.

Each finding shows as Missing (something required is absent), Warning (a contradiction, like call times out of order), or Suggestion (a minor improvement), and AI-sourced findings carry a small AI tag so you can tell them apart from the instant checks.

Acting on findings

The review saves your current edits first, so it's always checking what you've actually got in the builder, not a stale version. Read through the findings, fix what applies in the builder behind the modal, and click Re-run to check again. If nothing is flagged, the review confirms the sheet looks complete against the project.

The review is read-only: it never edits your call sheet for you, and running it doesn't affect anything crew see, since it happens entirely in the builder before you send.

Plan availability

Call sheet review is a Pro and Studio feature, like the other AI tools in FirstSlate. On the Free plan the Review button points you to the upgrade page. See plans and limits for the full comparison.

Common questions

Does the AI review send anything to crew?

No. It only reads your call sheet and project brief to generate findings inside the builder. Nothing goes out to crew until you click Send Sheet.

Why didn't it catch something I expected?

The AI pass is deliberately conservative: it's built to flag only clear gaps against your project's brief, not to second-guess your creative or technical choices, so it can return zero findings on a sheet that still needs a human look. Treat it as a second check, not a substitute for reading the sheet yourself.

Can I run it more than once?

Yes. Click Re-run inside the review, or close it and click Review again after making changes. Each run reflects your latest saved edits.
