Getting Started
Set up your studio branding
Add your logos, brand color, and contact details so every document you send looks like it came from your studio.
Updated 2026-07-10
Your studio profile controls what your client sees on every proposal, invoice, call sheet, brief, and email FirstSlate sends on your behalf. Set it up once and it carries through automatically, no need to touch it again per project.
Where to find it
Click your account name at the bottom of the sidebar, then Settings. Studio identity, brand color, and contact information live on the Profile tab, which opens by default.
Add your studio name and logos
Under Studio identity, fill in your Studio / agency name and Tagline. Below that are two separate logo uploads, because a single logo rarely reads well on both light and dark surfaces:
- Logo, dark backgrounds: used on dark-themed client documents. A light-colored or white logo works best here.
- Logo, light backgrounds: used on light-themed client documents, like invoices, and in the emails FirstSlate sends your clients. A dark-colored logo works best here.
Upload whichever you have. If you only have one logo, add it to both fields.
Pick your brand color
Under Brand color, choose one of the preset colors or enter a Custom hex value. This color shows up on your proposal's accept button, the selected package highlight, and other accent elements across your client-facing documents. If you never set one, FirstSlate uses its default blue.
Add contact information
Under Contact information, add your Website, Business email, and Phone. Add a Business tax ID / EIN if you want it shown on invoices, and a Default studio address to prefill on documents that need one.
Your login email is kept separate from this and is never shown to clients.
Control what appears on proposals
The Show studio branding on proposals toggle decides whether your logo, studio name, tagline, and contact info appear in a header at the top of every proposal you send. Turn it off if you'd rather send a plainer proposal.
Where your branding shows up
Once saved, your logo and brand color carry through automatically to:
- Proposals, invoices, briefs, and call sheets you send
- The client portal
- Delivery pages your client uses to approve final files
- The emails FirstSlate sends on your behalf
- Your Stripe checkout page, if you've connected Stripe. FirstSlate pushes your light-background logo to your Stripe account automatically whenever you save your profile, so the checkout page your client pays from matches everything else they've seen.
Connect Stripe to accept payments
Accepting card and ACH payments is set up from the Invoicing tab in the same Settings area, separate from your studio profile. See accept online payments for how to connect Stripe and what your client sees at checkout.
Plan availability
Studio branding, including both logos, your brand color, and contact info, is available on every plan, including Free. See plans and limits for what else changes by plan.
Common questions
I only have one logo. Do I need two?
No. Upload the one you have to either field (or both). Documents will still render, though without the light/dark contrast the two-logo setup is meant to provide.
Why doesn't my new logo show up on Stripe checkout right away?
FirstSlate pushes your light-background logo to Stripe each time you save your profile. If Stripe rejects the image (for example, it's an unsupported file type or too small), the sync fails quietly and your Stripe branding keeps the previous logo. Try re-uploading as a PNG or JPG.
Does the brand color affect invoices and call sheets too?
Yes. The color you pick is used as the accent color across your client-facing documents, not only proposals. The proposal accept button is the clearest example.
